We like to tell at our workshops that dyers often used to be located on the outskirts of towns, because making dye brews and boiling leaves can often stink terribly.
Also boiling out the leaves that I have collected recently, such as the leaves of the hazel, from the red maple, or those of the blood plum put the whole kitchen in an interesting smell. But now I have a good load of green / yellow fabric and the sewing can start.
